On Saturday March 14 Works-in-Progress will turn Glebe Road United Church into a BEAUTIFUL + FREE Clothing swap store, upcycling arena and joyous work party.
📅 Date: Saturday, March 7th, 202
⏰ Time: 11 AM — 2 PM
📍 Location: 20 Glebe Road East
💵 Cost: Free (Donations accepted)
📧 Contact: works.in.progressto@gmail.com
This swap is for everyone, an opportunity for us all to find good homes for outgrown or unwanted clothes, and find some new clothes. The swap will be clothing and shoes only, all sizes from tiny baby to large adults. If you don’t love it, someone else will.
Please come out on the 14th of March — the swap is open from 11 AM – 2 PM. PLUS we will have an onsite repair and upcycling table, with examples and advice and ideas on how to extend the life of your clothes and keep textile waste from the landfill. Please reach out if you want to add to the fun. Keep up to date by following us on Instagram @works.in.progress.to.
Dropping off clothes?
Pre-loved clothing ALL SIZES can be dropped off the week before the swap or on the morning of the swap — it MUST be sorted BY SIZE in a labelled bag and brought into the church basement via the parking lot entrance DURING OFFICE HOURS ONLY.
Please ask for Siobhan or Diane on Monday and Wednesday 9:15 AM – 12 PM, and Friday 9:15 AM – 3:00 PM. PLEASE contact us if you need to drop off earlier than March 10th or outside these hours, and please don’t leave clothing outside the church. The swap will be clothing and shoes only, all sizes from tiny baby to large adults. Clothes will be sorted by size and type rather than gender (e.g. pants 3-4, tops 6-7). Many swaps are mostly for adults, we started as a swap especially for children, and we would love to facilitate passing on your gently used outgrown clothes to your neighbours.
Want to host or Volunteer?
If you live in the area and/or are interested in hosting, volunteering or donating gently used (and clean!) clothing, please reach out to us at works.in.progressto@gmail.com. Of course, you are welcome just to drop by as well. We can also help you run your own swap in your neighbourhood.
Costs
The swap is free to all participants, but we do accept cash donations. Bring your own bag, or we have reusable bags available while supplies last. We will also have our famous up-cycled t-shirt bags for sale by donation (see photos above). We will also accept monetary donations if you feel the need – money will go to feed the volunteers and to our hosts for their outreach programs. This year we are thankful to have a grant to support our work, DETAILS TBA.
