Welcome to Glebe! Getting into your first online service is quick and easy. Here is how to get up and running in minutes.
1. Download and Sign Up
- Go to zoom.us/download on your computer or search “Zoom Workplace” in your phone’s app store.
- Open the app and create a free account using your email, Google, or Apple account.
2. Join a Meeting
You do not even need an account to join a call—just the link or ID.
- Via Link: Click the invite link sent by your host. Your browser will prompt you to open Zoom.
- Via Meeting ID: Open the Zoom app, click Join, type in the 9-to-11-digit Meeting ID, and enter the password if prompted.
- Email Siobhan at Glebe (communications@gleberoadunited.org) for the Meeting ID and password, or sign up for the weekly Order of Service email
- Select Join with Computer Audio (or Internet Audio on mobile) so people can hear you.
3. Meeting Controls (The Bottom Toolbar)
Once you are in the meeting, look at the bottom of your screen for your core controls:
- Mute / Unmute (Microphone icon): Click this to turn your mic on or off. Keep yourself muted when you are not speaking to block out background noise.
- Start / Stop Video (Camera icon): Click this to toggle your webcam.
- Chat (Speech bubble icon): Click this to type text messages, ask questions, or share links with the group.
- Leave: When you are done, click the red Leave button in the corner to exit the call safely.
Pro Tip: Test your speaker and microphone before your meeting starts by clicking the small arrow next to the Mute button and selecting Test Speaker & Microphone.
