Rev. Cynthia notes:

Weetabix is the best cereal you may never have heard of. I looooove Weetabix, did you know in Ireland it comes in chocolate?

Although we are somewhat disappointed that this month’s recipe does not call for a bottle of crushed Flintstones vitamins, it does appear to be a perfectly serviceable meatloaf recipe, and reassuringly gelatin-free. That said, we don’t know where to buy muffets in 2026. Some Weetabix will probably suffice as a substitute, and these can be easily located at your neighbourhood grocer somewhere in the cereal aisle. The little bit of sausage gives this recipe an air of mystery that will have your guests wondering how you do it! Thank you A. Evans for this vitamin-packed Friday dinner idea.

A. Evans Vitamin Meat Loaf

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. sausage meat
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp minced onion
  • 2 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 shredded wheat or 2 muffets
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs, 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup condensed tomato soup

Mix together meat, onion, parsley, salt, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, muffets, bread crumbs, egg, milk and 1/2 cup of tomato soup, pack in greased pan and spread remaining soup over top of loaf. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

Next month, we will take a deep dive into the many varieties of tuna casserole, tuna salad, and tuna soup. You may want to stock up on this versatile ingredient in advance — just be sure to buy the tuna with the little dolphin on the can! (Even though dolphins have an entirely undeserved reputation for amiability, we still want to see them thrive.)
