Worship & Music Message from the Minister We work very hard at Glebe Road to develop worship services that are theologically sound and relevant to urban people in our day. We have different ideas about scripture, baptism, communion, and prayers of confession and intercession. We involve our children in every service. Much of our service music is unique to Glebe Road since it is written by our Music Director. We celebrate our music program as often as possible. We have a special evening Taize-style worship service that is quiet, contemplative and celebrated in candle light. Message from the Music Director At Glebe Road, we enjoy a balance between the traditional hymns and songs of the sacred repertoire, while being open to new styles and influences. Almost every service reflects our eclectic approach to music of the spirit, with elements of jazz and pop, world music of many different cultures, and newly-composed music enriching our traditions. Our choir is small but adventurous, and we welcome new singers to join us in fun and fellowship while we pursue a rich and varied musical journey.
Year's Services
Each year our children leave their Sunday school activities to bring us their re-enactments of the Christmas and Easter stories. They also join us for communion the last Sunday of each month. Our anniversary service is held in October. Regular attendees are happily joined by members who have moved away or who are unable to get out as much as they once were. Over lunch we have a chance to catch up and share in our mutual church heritage. At our annual Carols by Candlelight service we join other neighbourhood churches to sing with a massed choir and the Salvation Army Brass Band, then enjoy hot apple cider and fresh baking. Taizé Services Some evenings we participate in intimate Taizé-style services with meditative silence, prayers, readings and calming music.
